Maxwells are a growing firm where you can gain exposure to various clients both large and small. You will be working closely with experienced Accountants and Partners.

The Private Client Tax Team works with a huge variety of clients from SME business owners to high-net-worth individuals, ensuring their compliance obligations are met. We build relationships with clients, talking to them about all aspects of their financial affairs, getting involved in advisory assignments where relevant. We are constantly striving to improve how we work, refining processes within the team and taking advantage of the newest technology to support us in the way we interact with our clients.

We think the team operates best together so being upfront, working from home doesn’t really work for us, but we’re happy to be flexible (it’s part of our ethos) and will consider reduced hours and job shares and we’ll support you to balance your work and life.

  • You’ll be given a high level of autonomy in the delivery of your work but we will always be available to support you where necessary.
  • You’ll be taking ownership of your own portfolio of clients, with support from the department manager and client engagement Partner.
  • You’ll be preparing tax returns and computations within agreed timescales.
  • You’ll interact directly with your clients, developing an effective relationship as a trusted adviser and giving excellent client service.
  • You’ll take responsibility for driving the tax return process for your clients, working proactively to manage your portfolio and prioritising day-to-day tasks. This role is key to the operation of our private tax function, so we’ll make sure you’re given opportunities to learn and develop to maintain the required high standards.
  • You’ll work on ad hoc assignments, international tax admin, disclosure facilities and taxation enquiries as examples. Experience of writing planning advice letters / reports would be preferred.
  • You’ll provide taxation advice to clients with support from the client engagement Partner.
  • You’ll be a proactive and valued member of a specialist team and will have the opportunity to develop an internal network within the tax department and the wider firm.

Experience

We are looking for someone with strong experience in a similar role, full training on our specific software and systems will be provided but there is an expectation of specific tax knowledge built up in a practical environment. Ideally, any successful candidate would be CTA or ATT qualified but if experience provides a similar skillset we would still encourage application.

Terms & Benefits

  • The position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday but would consider part time with a minimum of 28 hours. We offer flexible working time arrangements to help work around you.
