Background

History
Maxwells was established in 1968 and now with over 50 staff working from the Bridgwater office, is one of the largest Chartered Accountancy firms in Somerset.

Maxwells has over the last thirty years developed a professional practice that provides its clients with the services that are needed to be profitable in the ever changing business environment. Offering a high level of expertise with a friendly, commonsense approach has led to rapid expansion because clients feel comfortable with the "work hard, play hard" ethic of their Accountant, but also know that they benefit financially from clearly communicated business services.

Maxwells has led the way in offering more than the traditional accountancy, taxation and audit services that clients expect. Real practical help is provided so clients can run their businesses effectively and therefore profitably.

We are able to provide services for all types of client from small tax cases via small businesses through to large groups of companies. Indeed, the spread of personnel in the firm enables us to give all clients however large or small a high quality of service, both efficiently and effectively.

Firms Identity
We are proud to be based in Bridgwater and although the majority of our clients are situated throughout the South West and South Wales, we do have clients all over the country. Due to the number of staff in the firm and the most up to date methods of transferring information, any distance from Bridgwater is no problem.

As Chartered Accountants, all we can offer is our service and this is dependent upon our staff at all levels. All personnel take great pride in their work and the services we as a firm provide. All staff are trained to a high level and are encouraged to undertake a wide variety of additional training as well as core accountancy training.

What we do for our Clients
Given the size of the practice and the experience of our staff, we are able to provide specialised advice for whatever the size or business of the clients. Both corporate and personal clients therefore have access to specialised services whilst maintaining a personal approach with partners within the firm. All of our clients have a named partner and manager who are responsible for their affairs. These are the main points of contact for the client and, in addition, many clients have a member of the tax staff allocated to them in order to deal with their tax affairs directly.

It has always been the firm's view that use of Maxwells should have an underlying result of adding value to our client's business or tax affairs. We also take pride in rapidly resolving any problems our clients may have in the increasingly complex business environment.
